How do I keep my computer in a good running condition?

First of all be confident when you navigate in your applications - it's better to know what you have installed in the  computer. This will help you to recognize new programs, WEB-pages, toolbars  you've never installed.

If your computer running slower than usual, some applications acting "funny", Home page has been changed  - there is a big chance that your computer being "hijacked". In this case you should run one of the spy-ware programs previously installed on your computer. 

Also you should clean Recycle Bin , run Windows update on regular basis.

Where should I save my important Word and Excel files?

Each user has own folder on Exchange machine - M drive. This folder has your own name. This is the place where you should save all important document such as Word documents, spreadsheets etc.

If you don't know how to find your M drive - IT personnel always ready to assist you.

Why doesn't my printer print?

There are couple of reasons why print job never actually being printed. One of them - printer error (paper jammed, toner is out). 

Second reason - your computer lost network connection and printer went "off line" You can tell this by looking to the right bottom corner of the screen (taskbar). You'll see shadowed picture of the printer with the red question mark. In this case you need to reboot your computer.

If you are being asked for "network password" -  your account being locked - ask your System Administrator "to unlock"

What if program is not responding ?

To quit a program that is not responding

  1. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL.
  2. In the Close Program dialog box, click the program that is not responding, and then click End Task.

Look for file or folder?

  1. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
  2. In Name type all or part of the file name.

Enter a word or phrase in Containing text if you do not know the name of a file but know a distinctive word or phrase it contains.

If you want to specify the location to start the search, click Browse.

  1. Click Find Now.
